Alive & Free in East Palo Alto

The City of East Palo Alto Alive & Free presented a Proclamation to Alive & Free on October 3, 2017.

“There have been zero homicides this past year, and I think one of the things that we can attribute that to is our community policing effort over the last 15-17 years. There has been a collective effort in the community to make sure that we change that narrative of East Palo Alto being a community of violence,” said Mayor Larry Moody. He gives part of the credit for this remarkable turnaround to Alive & Free and thanked us for the impact the Alive & Free Prescription has made on the lives of many in the East Palo Alto community.

“I was born and raised in East Palo Alto.  As I grew up, there were things I saw in my community that I could not understand why they were happening. Once I was introduced to Dr. Marshall, answers came. With his guidance, I became what you call a Street Soldier,” said Ms. Demetra. “I would take my mom’s van every Tuesday and would take kids from East Palo Alto up to San Francisco to attend the Leadership Class.”

We are truly honored with this Proclamation and will continue to work to keep our communities Alive & Free!
