Trina Thierry Experiences Argentina
Trina Thierry-Munoz is studying International Business at San Diego State University, which required her to travel outside of the United States. She decided to take an internship in Buenos Aires, Argentina working for first a modeling agency, and second a non-profit organization. “I knew I wanted to travel and see the world. It has always been a passion of mine. It was a good experience overall. I learned a lot of different cultures and different lifestyles over there.” She lived there for two and a half months this past summer.
Trina reflected on how to get by in an unknown country. “There were times I felt lonely and wanted to go home. I never let the negative overtake the positive. I had to accept that I was in a different country. I had to find friends, and I did, and they were so nice. They invited me to their house and we had asado (meat) on Sundays which is really well-known in Argentina.”
“I really liked the history of the country. I would see Eva Peron’s face everywhere. I also liked how they’re very artsy and they believe in interacting with people. You could be in a cafe talking for hours and you don’t even realize how long you’ve been talking because you’re in good company.”
“It’s not just finding myself, it’s being open and exploring things I like to do and I think that’s how people can find themselves. It’s how I decided to it.”
Trina is on track to graduate this semester and we couldn’t be more proud of our Omega for taking the opportunity to explore the world!
